One of the great joys of being self-employed is working when I want to rather than when an employer tells me to. Fortunately I enjoy my work but if something interesting crops up I can take a break without asking permission from anyone. This afternoon my brother and I made the ten minute walk along the Clyde to see the launch of HMS Defender, the latest of the new Type 45 Destroyer. A memorable occasion it was, too. I particularly enjoyed listening to the hymn 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind' that was sung prior to the launch.
